HoneyDo Smart Shopping List
October 2022 - November 2022
React.js, Material-UI, Firebase
HoneyDo is your smart shopping list that learns how frequently you purchase items and organizes your shopping list accordingly.

  • Currently collaborating with a distributed, agile team to refine the HoneyDo application using pair programming, code reviews, and developing from user stories.
  • I led the effort to develope the design for HoneyDo using Canva to create a mood board and Figma to create mockups of the various views and states of the application.
  • Advocated for using Material-UI to help the team to rapidly prototype while maintaining a cohesive design aesthetic.
Community Fridges
June 2022 - October 2022
Next.js, Leaflet, Material-UI, Formik
A full stack web app currently in development which aims to connect and support a network of over 100 Community Fridges throughout NYC. The Community Fridges are hosted and stocked by volunteers to provide food for people experiencing food insecurity. The platform will empower volunteers to create updates for fridges and direct people in need to the fridge nearest them.

  • Ongoing collaboration with a small team of experienced developers to create a web application for a network of over 100 community refrigerators throughout NYC.
  • Utilized Leaflet to create a map complete with a search bar that filters map markers. The component can toggle between map and list views, and sorts fridge results by distance from the user.
  • Created form for updating fridge status. The form takes advantage of the MUI stepper component and includes radio button and slider inputs.
  • Created photo upload component which handles type validation, conversion to Webp, and post request.
Simply Lists
May 2022 - June 2022
MongoDB, Express, React, Heroku
Simply Lists is a full-stack web app platform to facilitate sharing information in a concise, digestible format. Favorite Sci-Fi reads, a curated list of local charities, backpacking trips; this is a place to share what you love.

  • Used MongoDB to manage user information, list information, and nested comment sections.
  • Mocked up multiple design iterations in Figma
  • Built out backend logic, including express server, API endpoints, and user authentication.
  • Constructed frontend components using React and CSS3
UW Sustainable Design Studio
January 2018 - March 2018
Grasshopper, Python
Co-taught a graduate design studio with a focus on computational design and sustainability, in collaboration with the UW Department of Architecture and Martin Selig Real Estate.

  • Led the development of a Grasshopper script, which iterates through parametric building geometry while performing a variety of simulations to assess building performance.
  • Taught students the basics of computational design and worked with them to customize the base script for their specefic project goals.
Screen Study
March 2018 - August 2018
Grasshopper
A twin high-rise currently under construction in Seattle is clad in sliding screens with perforations depicting works of art. This script handles mapping the brightness levels in images to drill hole sizes, resulting in an abstraction of the artwork. The tool also takes care of splitting the image into individual screens, labeling hole diameters, and exporting drawings for the fabricator.

  • Worked in collaboration with the project designers who developed the original concept.
  • Led the effort to develop the final script, including assigning drill hole sizes, screen layout, and drawing export.
Development Daylight Study
November 2017 - July 2018
Grasshopper, Python, Tableau
A tool to study the solar impact of new developments on existing buildings. At the core of the tool is a script that takes existing context and multiple iterations of a building's geometry, and programatically performs simulations for sensors placed throughout the neighboring buildings. The resulting data is validated, clean, and exported for use in a Tableau visualization. The tool served as the basis for a legal case impeding a project.

  • Met with various stakeholders and iteratively implemented changes and feature requests to meet a growing project scope.
  • Developed the Grasshopper script to perform various simulations for numerous points throughout building geometry.
  • Created Tableau dashboard with visualizations of the data and methodology for use in the legal case.
